About John

John Conen is a member of Britain’s Campaign for Real Ale and a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers. He has been visiting Bamberg for over thirty years and his Bamberg book is the product of the many enjoyable visits he has made. Bamberg and Franconia: Germany's Brewing Heartland can be ordered from your local bookshop but not from Amazon. 

John grew up in the north-east London suburb of Chingford, and has a long-standing interest in London history and in particular the ordeal of World War 2.

Larkswood School 1906 - 2006 (2006)

A history of my former primary/infants school, which Chris Pond and I wrote for its centenary year. A valuable social record drawing on school log books which the head teachers kept from the founding of the school through to the 1980s as well as personal recollections of former pupils. The Flower Show at Farnham Royal (2013)

A brief look at the popular local Village Show in this Buckinghamshire parish. It can trace its origins back to 1883.
